NoHo Doorways

NoHo hasn't lost it grit. Sure, the lofts and apartments in the neighborhood are now worth in the millions of dollars, but take a walk down the cobblestone streets of this tiny Lower East Side enclave and its bohemian past hasn't been scrubbed away. The neighborhood's independent spirit lives on in its excellent restaurants, cafes, boutiques and doorways.

The average NoHo doorway is covered in colorful graffiti and surrouded by detritus usually unbecoming in a neighborhood of this caliber. This is the heart of New York's art world, though - Chuck Close lives here and Basquiat lived and worked in a studio on Great Jones Street - so it's befitting that the doorways and streets are imperfect and patinated in the best way possible.
